Reporting and safety
Use the appropriate relationship, access, and reporting controls when an interaction does not feel right.
Choose the right action
Unfriending removes a Hostly friendship, blocking limits future interaction, removing event access changes one event, and reporting sends a safety concern for review. These actions solve different problems and may be available in different places.
Report a person
Open the person's available profile actions and choose Report when you need Hostly to review a safety or conduct concern. Select the closest reason and include concise context that helps explain what happened.
Block someone
Use Block when you want to limit interaction with a person across Hostly. You can review blocked people from people settings and unblock someone later; unblocking does not automatically restore a friendship.
Remove someone from an event
A host can use event people controls to remove a participant when supported. This changes access to that event but does not necessarily block the person elsewhere.
Preserve useful context
When reporting a concern, avoid deleting relevant messages or details until you have submitted the report. Include only information needed to understand the issue and do not share sensitive information unnecessarily.
Handle immediate danger
Hostly reporting is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or another appropriate local authority.
